Nelson City Council is hosting, Te Huihui-o-Matariki, the Matariki Festival 2024 in collaboration with Ngā Iwi e Waru o Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui

We are pleased to announce our guest performer at this year’s Matariki Festival is New Zealand multi-award-winning Māori singer-songwriter Maisey Rika (Ngāti Awa, Te Arawa, Te Whānau a Apanui, Tūhoe).

There will be plenty of live entertainment from local groups including light art displays and more to be confirmed.

The mākete pō (night market) will open at 5.00pm – 9.00pm, offering a diverse range of food as well as Māori arts and crafts for sale.

Traffic will be busy in the city, those attending are encouraged to carpool, bus, bike and walk to the event.

There will be no access to cash withdrawals onsite and limited access for eftpos transactions, so please bring cash.

Koha received will be donated to a local charity (to be confirmed).
