Hamuera Manihera an artist talk

Sunday 26th May 2024

Hamuera Manihera (Ngāti Kuia) who is also Kaitiaki Taonga at Nelson Provisional Museum, will be sharing his practice of weaving.

This kākahu (Māori cloak) is made in the kaitaka paepaeroa style using muka fibre – which comes from harakeke (phormium tenax) – coloured with a natural dye from native trees and iron rich mud (paru).
