The Phat Club is Nelson City's only nationally recognized dance club and live venue.

Styles include drum n bass, house, techno, dub, rock, breaks, hip hop & live indie, metal,punk, reggae, & roots.

Bands and DJs booked during the past few months include Salmonella Dub, The Black Seeds, Noisia, Andy C, Fat Freddys Drop, Shapeshifter, Nathan Haines, Ian Pooley (Germany), Aphrodite (UK), Concord Dawn, Roger Perry, 8 Foot Sativa, The Bleeders, The Offbeats, Mickey Finn (UK), Mikey Havoc, The Managers, Agent Alvin, The Stabs (Melbourne), Budspells, Roni Size UK, Goldie UK, ........

Phat Club also stages outdoor dance parties at it's lushious rainforest surrounded site at Inangahua on the West Coast, 2 hours drive south from Nelson.
