Festival Nelson Lakes

Saturday 16th–Sunday 17th February 2013

No festival can claim a backdrop like ours! Set on the shores of Lake Rotoiti and surroundings this festival lets you discover the past, present and future of our region. In 2013 our festival is themed around the discovery of the Nelson lakes in 1740 by the first European, JS Cotterell. On Saturday 16th of February watch the Waka Ama rowing championships on the Lake. On Sunday 17th February activities for young and old, including a market with NZ made quality products and entertainment will be at the lakeside. As no generators are allowed in the national park you can be assured of an atmosphere that is befitting to it's surroundings.. Proceeds from the festival will go to emergency services and to aid our local Lake Rotoiti archives group with some extra funding.
Range of Land-Water-Air activities available on Sunday the 17th include; History promotions & displays. Entertainment. Lake Activities. Scenic flights. Art, Crafts & Produce Market. Have a go Digital Photography workshop, Flyfishing, Archery. Children’s activities. Raffles on the hour & more. 3pm onwards Experience High Tea & History at Tophouse Historical Guesthouse.
