The Amazing Oakley Grenell brings his band and music to the Playhouse.
At the age of 28 Oakley's music career has already been long and prolific. Being a Grenell he has a blood affiliation with music. Son of NZ Country Star- John Hore Grenell. He grew up on the legendary Whitecliffs Ranch, host to the Whitecliffs Folk Festivals which are sited as a huge influence on all the Grenell kids' – brothers Denver (Psycho Puppets, Mountains of Murray), Redford (Psycho Puppets, Bunyip, Verse 2, DJ Dreadford, Shapeshifter) and sister Amiria (actress and guitar based contemporary folk artist 'Mea' ).
Oakley first rose to notoriety in Christchurch in his on right when his Highscool band ska/reggae outfit 'Bunyip' was placed 3rd in the Rockquest Regional Finals. They then went on to release the 'Routes E.P.', tour NZ extensively with acts such as Salmonella Dub and even opened for U.S. soul singer/ songwriter Ben Harper.
