Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Saturday 3rd November 2012–Sunday 31st March 2013
"Rainbow Dyeing" is one of four regularly scheduled Creative Woolcraft Workshops. It is a farm-based, small group workshop that takes participants on the journey from sheep, to gorgeous lustrous locks of wool dyed a rainbow of different colours. These workshops are designed for visitors to Nelson, but are equally suitable to for locals.
Start by meeting the Fleecewood sheep, bred specifically for their long, lustrous wool. Wash the fleece, then experiment with mixing the dyes to create your own unique colour combinations.
Finally, arrange your dyed fleece in a display box to admire your handiwork. Your display box could also make a wonderful gift, or you may wish to continue the woolcraft experience, and use the wool you've dyed in other spinning, weaving or felting Creative Woolcraft Workshops.
