Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Sunday 23rd September 2012
On Sunday 23 September, Nelson City Council facility, Founders Heritage Park, is opening its doors and inviting Nelson to meet the artists, have fun in our spring gardens and indulge in a few treats along the way.
The Park welcomes painter Lori Davis, who resides in Rutherford Cottage and Golden Bay artists, Martyn Milligan and Frith Wilkinson who have opened Rinopai, a crisp new gallery and contemporary jewellery workshop.
Traditional crafts are still alive and well at Founders Park with metalwork by Mantis Workshop and Tasman Forge, furniture-making by Roger Davies and Rusty Planks and the beautiful oak barrels of the Nelson Cooperage.
Be sure to check out Founders Park’s three gift shops, starting at The Windmill Store where you’ll find an exquisite range of vintage giftware and old fashioned sweets. No visit would be complete without a visit to Founders Organic Brewery and Café. L’Artisan Bakery will be selling their full complement of sweet and savoury delights.
Founders Heritage Park is open 7 days from 10am-4.30pm. FREE ENTRY for locals all year round, except during public events.
