At tonight’s meeting Craig Potton will present a short slide show of Antarctica, followed by Antarctic graduate, Debs Martin who will give an overview of its global importance. Geoff Keey, New Zealand coordinator of the Antarctic Ocean Alliance, will talk about the remarkable Ross Sea and the steps being taken to protect it.
This year, 25 countries will decide the fate of Antarctica's Ross Sea. The Antarctic Ocean Alliance (AOA) is determined that it should be protected.
The oceans around Antarctica are the only oceans on this earth still relatively untouched by human activity. They are home to almost 10,000 unique and diverse species, many of which cannot be found anywhere else on the planet.
So come along and hear how you can help ensure Antarctic Ocean habitats and wildlife are protected from human interference
