Inspector Brian McGurk, a senior Nelson police officer, has recently returned from a seven and a half month deployment to Bamiyan province in central Afghanistan. He led an international team of police officers and lawyers as part of the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL), based withe the NZ Provincial Reconstruction Team at Kiwibase in Bamiyan. Brian will talk about his experiences working with people in an environment vastly different from New Zealand.
