South African cellist Heleen Du Plessis, the newly appointed Williams Evans Executive Lecturer in Cello at the University of Otago, is well known in her home country and has performed in the USA and Europe.

Terence Dennis is widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s finest musicians, and has an international reputation as a highly sought-after accompanist. The programme includes Beethoven’s Sonata Op.5 No. 2 in G minor, Debussy’s Sonata in D minor, Sonata for Cello and Piano by South African composer Peter Klatzow (NZ premier) and Britten’s Sonata Op. 65 in C.
