Where Tides Collide

Wednesday 30th May–Friday 29th June 2012

Where Tides Collide is an exhibition of artwork made in response to the solitude and windswept open space of Farewell Spit. Twelve artists from Golden Bay took the opportunity to take part in a 5 day residency in August last year; an arrangement made between the Department of Conservation and the Golden Bay Community Arts Council. The resulting exhibition sees a varied response to the colours, textures, and findings of the natural and manmade environment... and the constant rhythm of tide.

Ten of the original twelve artists are represented by artworks finished in variety of media; video, painting, textile, ceramic, stone, fibre and bead artworks. Artists include; Chris Finlayson, Philly Hall, Sarah Hornibrooke, Deb Price, Lynne Udell, Jo Campbell, Beate Franke, April Stevens, Jay Horton and Jocelyn Bacci.
