JOHANNA MYSTERY

Since bursting onto the New Zealand music scene in 2010, multi-instrumentalist Johanna Mystery has already performed with award winning singer-songwriter Jess Chambers (The Woolshed Sessions), as well as performed and recorded with a string of established New Zealand musicians, including virtuoso guitarist Justin Firefly Clarke (Fly My Pretties IV, The Woolshed Sessions), and Nigel Collins (sole accompanying musician for Flight of The Conchords).

When performing with her band, experienced drummer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Lemi Wood (Hikoikoi, Hannah Howes, Jump St), and hotly demanded jazz bassist Will Sklenars (Jump St), forge together a solid rhythm section, adding alternative rock elements to Johanna Mystery≠s catchy hooks. Described as being reminiscent of the organ-infused sounds of The Doors, mixed with the edgy and soulful vibes of Amy Winehouse, Tracey Chapman, and Joan Armitrading, Johanna Mystery and her band are fast developing a reputation for their dynamic performances.
