Sunday 25th March 2012
The New Zealand Orthoapedic Association will be running its biennial Joint Effort Walk on Sunday 25th March 2012. The walk is held throughout NZ and raises money for research into bone & joint conditions. Over the last decade, these funds have greatly assisted surgeons in improving the quality of care for patients. The 2010 walk raised over $10,000 to help researchers improve results & develop better techniques for orthopaedic problem.
We invite the Nelson community & recipients of orthopaedic surgery to join us. There will be displays of joint replacements, demonstrations of surgery on plastic bones and light refreshments after the walk. If you have had a joint replacement or just walk to find out more, bring your family & come to support the walk. This year there will be gold coin donation entertainment for children (bouncy castle, face painting, balloons) and gold coin donation refreshments & sausage sizzle & free fitness tests.
The event is a 1km walk around the Trafalgar Centre. A series of prizes are up for grabs including most joints replaced, youngest/oldest participants and most money raised. Entertainment will be provided after the walk. Come rain or shine!
