"Beatlemania" by Peta Wright

Sunday 29th January–Saturday 18th February 2012

Peta says, "It’s no secret. The Beatles are the best rock and roll band ever! They were back in the sixties, they still are today and they always will be. Paul John George and Ringo changed the world with their entirely different sound and look. The mop top look became legendary. A cultural shock of hysteria and unparalleled chart-topping success.

I believe many of their songs are works of art. When I hear them I see vivid paintings. Unique landscapes of glorious colours and textures unfold, layer upon layer depicting the stories within the songs overlapping with my own life experiences, hence my interpretation of their lyrics and tunes.

In 2006 I was contacted by an American publishing company and my Beatles paintings were used in The Beatles Artbook by Amazon. They are now contemplating a second publication, so back to the stereo I went. I sold every painting in 2006 and had commissions galore.

The Beatles are extremely popular and others like me enjoy seeing the song played out of canvas. This exhibition shows my initial entries, with more to come. I had loads of fun creating them and hope you come and enjoy them."
