Waka ama (outrigger canoe) regatta at Lake Rotoiti, Nelson Lakes National Park.

A weekend of action-packed races for one, two and six -person waka ama and stand-up paddle boards. There are also fun sprint races on the Saturday at midday for locals and spectators, or anyone else who wants to have a go. The races are held in Kerr Bay, close to shore, so spectators get a great view. The regatta is hosted by the Maitahi Outrigger Canoe Club, based in Nelson.
