It involves teams of 10-15 walkers or runners and one member of the team must be on the track during the entire overnight event. While the event is on, teams create a positive community atmosphere by camping out, enjoying entertainment, entertaining others, meeting new people, sharing their stories. At 9pm a Candle Light Ceremony of Hope and Remembrance is held to honour survivors and carergivers, and to remember those we have lost to cancer. Funds are used to: Expand and continue our local cancer support services. Provide support to local branches of Child Cancer, Can Teen and the Nelson Region Hospice. Provide Health promotion activities for the Nelson and Tasman communities.
