MikeOscarTangoUniformEchoKiloAlpha cleared for take off

Thursday 22nd December 2011–Friday 29th June 2012

Our aerodrome has an interesting history and this exhibition tells it, from inception through to today's activities.
From famous aviatiators such as Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, tragedy and other accidents, RNZAF exercises through to sky diving, microlight flights, learning to fly, flying in a stunt plane (where you are the pilot).
There are some funny, quirky stories such as having to clear sheep from the paddock to allow a plane to land or take off.
The story of the now defunct air service to Wellington and the success story of Nelson Aviation College.
There are also activities for the children -and young at heart. Make your own paper plane or colour one in - all free and yours to take home

Family Friendly Free
