The NZSO is on the road in March touring the South Island with an ensemble of 20 musicians to the local communities of Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, Christchurch, Timaru and Oamaru, zigzagging across the entire mainland of New Zealand in a series of family concerts featuring much-loved classics and contemporary surprises!

The concerts are part of the NZSO's Community Programmes initiative and
will introduce audiences to the instruments, sections and musicians of the
New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Each musician of the NZSO in Miniature and on the Road tour performs a different instrument of the orchestra, allowing them to give individual presentations involving opportunities for audience interaction.

The concerts feature solo performances and a programme of arrangements of classic favourites for this original ensemble, such as Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, other much-loved classics and a few surprises!
