Community of the Year celebration at Little Day Out
Residents of Victory are overjoyed with the news that they have been recognised as New Zealand’s community of the year, and will be celebrating in style next weekend.
The Little Day Out in Victory Square on Sunday, 14 February, will be a fun family afternoon to gather people together and celebrate with music, food and art.
Winning the title at this year’s inaugural New Zealander of the Year Awards has confirmed what Victory’s residents already knew – that it is a vibrant, supportive and positive place in which to live, work and play.
The Little Day Out will run from 2 to 6 pm, with local band The Immigrants, DJ Jah and the Wicked Draw sound system, and up-and-coming young singers Two ‘n’ Fro providing the music.
There will be food from local outlets – curries from the dairy, sushi from Sushi Heaven, a fruit stall from Victory Fruit and Veg, and treats from the Victory Garden Café – as well as other food stalls from around Nelson.
For those who enjoy getting creative with their kids, local artist Lou Darcy will be facilitating a group art project for children five and over to paint boards that will be used for murals around the Victory area.
