Mapua Community Library Literary Festival

Friday 26th–Sunday 28th March 2010

'A TOUCH OF CLASS'. Patron Margaret Mahy and sponsor Murray Sturgeon of Nelson Pine Industries will launch the festival at the Friday Cocktail party. Music and poetry by Cliff Fell.
'FOR THE LOVE OF BOOKS'. All day Saturday a programme or readings by well-loved NZ authors and poets plus local children. A chance for the children to dress up as a book character or perform a rap to a favourite book. Prizes awarded. Demonstrations, books for sale, craft zone and raffles and refreshments.
'WRITE ON'. Bridget Auchmuty will lead a creative writing workshop over two half days.
'A FESTIVAL FEAST'. Listen to tales and anecdotes from Brigid Lowry, Barry Southam, Gerard Hindmarsh and Fiona Farrell and enjoy a traditional afternoon tea.
It is hoped that our festival in beautiful Mapua will benefit not just the local community but also the wider area of Nelson and the Bays and the Top of the South.
