The Masked Parade opens the Nelson Arts Festival with an explosion of colour, music and performance in mask. The theme this year is On the Move.

Think flocks of birds, herds of animals, fleets of waka, flotillas of amazing machines, groups of settlers and migrants, swirls of falling leaves, clusters of capering clowns, clouds of twirling dancers… movement in all its forms is the theme of this year’s Masked Parade. And if the movement makes sound – all the better! Entry is free and open to all, including pre-school, school, community, business and family groups as well as individuals.
